We’ve got the best lash extensions just awaiting your eye lids, they’re better than the old faithful, “waterproof mascara.” So many want the waterproof mascara because it will allow them to have natural experiences without affecting their beauty. The truth is anything waterproof is more difficult to remove from your face and it usually takes a stronger oil cleanser and a lot of rubbing to remove it. if you know anything about our skin, we shouldn’t have to do a lot of rubbing on any part of our bodies because it can affect the elasticity of our skin along with may cause bruises among other issues.
This is a conversation we are having because there’s an easier way for beauty. Lash extensions will help you eliminate the need for any mascara and people will believe they’re your natural lashes. We use the JB Lash Extensions and they offer a similar effect without the need of any other additions.
Here are some tips for your Lash extensions: these essential tips will help your extensions last longer
Avoid Curling
Your eyelash curler is probably your holy grail tool in your makeup bag, but with lash extensions, it’s best to listen to JB Lush Cosmetics and lay off the curler. One of the reasons you want to avoid curling is because you may bend the lashes in a permanent way. Now if you choose not to heed to this warning and end up curling your lashes try to do so lightly.
Groom Periodically
In order to maintain your luscious lashes, occasionally you’ll want to brush them out. Of course you only want to fluff them or brush them out as needed, but what will be most beneficial to your lashes is if you choose to use the JB Lash cleaning wipes once weekly to remove protein buildup.
Resist Picking Or Pulling On Lashes
As fascinated as you will become with your new lashes, for greater duration, you’ll want to avoid playing with them. Not only can fiddling with the extensions pull out the false lashes, but it can also end up damaging your natural lashes.
Again these are simply a few tips to keep in mind if you want to pull off that beautiful, voluminous, natural look with your lashes without the fuss of messy mascara or a need for additional product.

Esthetics by P Brown can help clean up all of your bikini area concerns.
This question was a DM in my social media, I’m sharing it so all my (lady) clients know, yes, we can help brighten your bikini area.
QUESTION:
Porsche, I need to get rid of this hyperpigmentation around my bikini area, I’m headed to Jamaica to renew my wedding vows in June, what can I do?
ANSWER:
Believe me, I understand your dilemma, we definitely can help you and we can do it soon so you can check that off your list. Vaginal hyperpigmentation is common and it can develop from a lot of reasons including hormonal changes.
You can get a body peel where we’ll lay low-grade acids, like a pumpkin enzyme acid, or I’ve done a hibiscus acid or an apple wine acid, something that is gentle enough to peel your intimate area but strong enough to lift up the hyperpigmentation.
No Intimate Relations For 3 Days
If we do a vaginal peel, you will want to wait until three days after the peel to have relations as my grandmother would say. The reasoning is because you’ll be shedding and there’ll be nothing sexy about it. Now, once you’ve passed the 72-hour mark, your bikini area will look so good you’ll be wanting to show it off (not suggesting it, just saying).
Pumpkin Is Perfect for the Bikini Area
Pumpkin is the perfect enzyme to use on the bikini area, because it contains Glyolic Acid. Glycolic Acid is a water-soluble alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), it has the smallest molecules and is why it’s able to easily penetrate the skin. Glycolic Acid comes from a natural derivative such as Aloe or Pumpkin. The pumpkin is also loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, it naturally exfoliates dead skin cells. Pumpkin will give you a flawless glow, even skin, and reduce ingrown hairs.
So if you’re in need of a vaginal peel or have noticed hyperpigmentation below, let us help you. Also, if you have any questions about hyperpigmentation, chemical peels, or anyskincare questions in general, please feel free to call us at (615) 884 – 6744 or email us at admin@estheticsbypbrown.com.

A Lymphatic Massage is a light pressure massage where the therapist manipulates the tissues to allow the lymph fluids to drain more freely.
Benefits of a Lymphatic Massage

What are the effects of massage on the lymphatic system?
During a massage, lymphatic drainage stimulates the lymphatic system and increases lymph flow which improves the efficiency of the lymphatic system.
Does lymphatic drainage massage work for weight loss?
Lymphatic massage may not directly produce permanent weight loss (results) it may however help with:

There are many benefits to allowing us to assist you with hair removal. Smoother skin is simply one benefit and the results could last 3-4 weeks depending on how quickly your hair grows. At Esthetics by P Brown, we use Stephanie Layne’s wax. This wax has an oil base versus a polymer which means it does not contain plastic. Whether we use the hard wax or soft wax depends on the coarseness of the hair. If your hair is really coarse, we’ll use the hard wax, but if your hair is fine we tend to use a soft wax. We use the low temperature wax and it’s less painful.
Hard Wax Versus Soft Wax
What is Hard Wax?
Hard wax has a thick consistency. When it’s applied, it hardens on the skin and maintains a workable consistency that doesn’t require strips to be used, the wax works as the strip. It melts at a lower temperature, so it feels comfortable to the skin.
What is Soft Wax?
Soft wax doesn’t stick to the skin, but it does stick to the hair. With this wax, strips are used to remove the hair.
What Happens When I Schedule a Wax Appointment?
When you schedule any wax appointment with the exception of some face wax appointments, you’ll receive an email that provides instructions on how you’ll need to prepare for the appointment. Instructions may vary, for example, you may be asked to exfoliate 24-48 hours prior to the appointment. You also may be asked to refrain from using any harsh chemicals on the area for approximately 48 hours. For example, if your cleanser contains retinal, and you’re scheduling a wax appointment for your face, you would want to stop using the retinal on your face 24 – 48 hours prior to your appointment. Be sure to check our wax services under Brow and Wax Bar .

QUICK & EASY TIP FOR CUTICLE CARE
Since we’ve been washing our hands more frequently to help fight against catching COVID-19, a lot of people are frequently experiencing dry hands and cuticles. The ingredients for this quick tip may easily be found in your kitchen. Take about 1-2 tablespoon of olive oil or non-comedogenic coconut oil and heat it a little. Then while you’re watching tv, simply rub the oil on your cuticles and around your fingers. This technique will add moisture to your skin, relieve dry, brittle cuticles, and may aid in healthy nail growth.

Massage therapy can help relieve pain, heal injuries, knead out knots, improve circulation, reduce other stress points in the body, and (literally)help the body relax.
Organic Refresh Facial
Schedule a facial for a detox for your face. There are so many benefits linked to facials that there’s not enough space to name them all. Here are some basics: facials increase circulation, help improve the skins ability to remain hydrated, help fight against free radicals and the aging process and allows for the renewal of skin cells.
So, regardless of the detox service you choose, our aim as always is to make your experience relaxing, replenishing and rejuvenating. You’ll definitely want to keep your body hydrated during any of these services because your body will be flushing toxins continually.

Black women have a serious relationship with their hair and everyone knows it, especially the beauty industry. If you are looking for a stylist who will help your hair grow, you’ve clicked on the right page. Our stylists are seasoned experts who have been specializing in natural hair for more than 20 years. When you or your child’s hair is in our hands, you’re cared for with professionalism, tenderness and ease.
Your first step is to schedule a consultation with our master stylist so she can become acquainted with you and your needs. You’ll be asked questions about your routine, the products you use on your hair, any allergies, among other questions that will allow you and the stylist to discuss the services that will be the greatest benefit on the journey to healthy hair. During the consultation, the stylist will examine your hair to determine its porosity (how well your hair holds and absorbs moisture). She’ll look at your ends, your edges, the condition of your scalp and the general condition of your hair.
Caring for your Tresses
Our procedures are the same when it comes to the first steps in the process of cleansing and conditioning your hair. A moisturizing shampoo and moisturizing conditioner are used, especially when your hair is dry. Additionally, oils such as avocado, coconut, hemp, or olive may be added to the products to help increase moisture.
Side note: The oils we use contain moisturizing properties that you may also find in your kitchen. The oils include avocado oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. One of the benefits of these oils is that they can penetrate the hair shaft while adding shine. These oils in particular help soften dry or brittle hair.
Collagen Treatment with Steam
When our stylist notices your hair is extremely dry and brittle, she’ll offer a Collagen Treatment with Steam. Dry collagen and (avocado, coconut, hemp, or olive) oil are added to moisturizing shampoo and then massaged into your hair. You then are seated under a steam dryer. The moist heat from the steam dryer opens the hair follicles and pores in the scalp. This helps your hair and scalp absorb the moisture.
After your hair has been cleansed and moisturized, a Heat protectant and leave-in conditioner are applied to the hair. These products are used on the hair during the blow drying process to build a secure barrierbetween your hair strands and the high heat and adds protection for your hair during the blow-drying process.
Here are a few of our popular services from our Natural Hair Bar:
Shampoo /Natural Braid Style with Extensions & Shampoo / Natural Braid Style without Extensions
These services include thorough shampooing, conditioning, blow drying, and braiding to the desired Braid style.
Flat Twist with Shampoo
This service includes, shampooing, conditioning, and then products are added to the hair that helps moisturize and define the curls for when the client unravels the twists. A flat twist is similar to cornrows, two strands of hair are twisted and attached to the scalp. Generally clients wear the look as a style until they choose to take them down and wear their hair in the Twist -out style. Drying doesn’t have to occur with this option, most of the time clients prefer to air dry.
Hydration Scalp Facial No Style
Just like you may receive a facial from your esthetician, the process is the same for your hair and scalp. The stylist begins by rinsing the hair and then applying a shampoo, she rinses and then applies a different shampoo. Afterwards is the exfoliation which she does mechanically. She uses a small brush and goes all the way around the scalp, the perimeter of the hairline insuring the scalp is clean. Moisturizing is the next step for which a hair mask is put on your tresses. The mask remains on for 15 – 20 minutes. The mask is rinsed and a moisturizing conditioner is applied to the hair, it will help seal in the moisture, then oil is added for the finishing touch.
This is a separate service and can be added to any style service.
Shampoo & Silk Press
This is a style that gives natural hair the appearance of being relaxed. It’s an updated version of the 90’s term “Press & Curl.” It no longer includes a straightening comb on the stove in the kitchen to straighten the tresses.
This procedure requires us to make sure your hair porosity is healthy enough to be flat ironed because we have to make sure your hair is strong enough to handle the heat. Of course many products are applied to the hair before the flat iron to maintain healthy hair.
The first step is to shampoo the hair and ensure the tresses are clean. They are then moisturized with conditioner, rinsed, and blow dried. Once the tresses are clean, conditioned, moisturized, and completely dry, she uses the flat iron to straighten the hair.
Crochet Custom Style
The procedure for this style starts with shampooing, a moisturizing conditioner is applied, the hair is then blow dried, braided to the scalp, and then crochet hair is installed. For this style, clients provide (bring) the hair they want crocheted.
Blow Out Style Only
The procedure for this style starts with shampooing and conditioning the hair. A heat protectant is added when the stylist blows out the hair usually with a comb attachment. This process stretches the coils so you can actually see your length. Many seek this style in the winter when the humidity is low.
I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions regarding natural hair or skincare please feel free to contact us. We can be reached by phone at (615) 884 – 6744 or email us at estheticsbypbrown@yahoo.com.

A chemical peel is a controlled burn where people pay a professional (like me) to correct the process and control the healing. The chemicals are applied to the skin to remove the top layer of the skin and then the skin that grows back is healthier and smoother. Chemical peels are often used to treat hyperpigmentation scars, sun damage, wrinkles, acne, and other concerns.
Chemical Peels and Ethnic Skin
When you schedule a chemical peel with Esthetics by P Brown, you’ll also receive 60 days minimum, skincare which includes the follow up appointment and the follow through appointment, so we can continue to deliver results. Therefore, if you want the chemical peel, you’ll want to budget for $180, then depending on how deep we have to go – it can go up to $300. However, I rarely have to go that deep. A lot of clients come to me thinking they have really bad skin, but rarely do they have skin as bad as they think.
Let’s Talk About Acids and Ethnic Skin. There are three popular acids used for chemical peels:
Glycolic Acid
Some estheticians favorite for ethnic skin, it’s an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). A good place to get a hybrid Glycolic and organic Glycolic acid, is from the Aloe Vera plant. Aloe Vera is a natural derivative of Glycolic acid.
Traditionally, Glycolic Acid has always come with strong side effects because it has the smallest molecule. So, let’s talk about what that looks like: osmosis, cellular division, cellular wall penetration, and molecules. Imagine a cellular barrier, and the fact that glycolic is the smallest molecule – it hits that barrier hard and breaks through to the back of the barrier. For us, Glycolic acid is a sledgehammer acid. And your body is going to do what it is designed to do and it’s designed to put your body back in stasis and heal. When that happens, your melanocytes
do what they do best: spread and flood the area.
Let’s talk quickly about anatomy: Contrary to popular belief whether you are darkest of dark skin or fairest of fair skin, (from model Naomi Campbell to Frozen) we all have the same number of melanocytes. What determines your pigment is not your melanocytes or rather, it’s not the number, it’s the reach. So, if you’re fair skinned, your melanocytes are basically curled up like a fist, and if you’re dark skinned, they’re basically like a flat hand and in between is a loose claw, so when we’re working with ethnic skin, even Glycolic acid, it has to be able to work with our tyrosinase inhibitors. What are tyrosinase inhibitors? For my tribe, we call them melanin suppressants.
And what are tyrosinase inhibitors going to do?
They make sure, wherever you have an injury, it’s going to keep your melanocytes from flattening out like a hand and causing post inflammation hyperpigmentation. It’s going to remind your melanocytes to relax and remember that P Brown has everything under control.
For me personally, Glycolic acid is an inflammatory, it’s going to cause inflammation it can cause scarring, burning, itching, peeling, and flacking – it gives an instant false result. I’ve seen that my clients have gone places or ordered a chemical peel off Amazon (never with me) and tried to do it themselves and they’ll come to me and say, it was beautiful, it was glowing but now I have tear drop and penpoint hyperpigmentation.
Here’s the thing, estheticians are trained to use a black light to check the evenness of an acid so we know your acid is distributed evenly on your face… and Glycolic acid – is not my favorite acid. I do use it with buffers, but I also have 4 of my own skincare lines so we can provide custom skincare. I may at times use Glycolic acid for my clients with Cystic Acne.
Salicylic Acid
This acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). Salicylic Acid is an anti-bacterial acid and anti-inflammatory acid, it is amazing if you have oily skin and are acne prone. With this acid, you really want to look at the % of acid, if you are looking at 5% or below – it’s really just like a toner and used as a long-term thing, it will give you the results you want over a prolonged period of time. If you go above 5% you’re getting into the chemical peel range. That is when you’ll have 3 days of peeling, 3 days of healing, and depending on how it’s mixed or how deep we go will depend on how deep the peel will be. This one is definitely one of my favorites.
I cocktail it and use it a lot as Lactic acid. Lactic acid is another AHA, I try not to use Lactic Acid with Vitamin C, because then it does become a little harsh for ethnic skin, especially if it’s at about a 5-7%, if you’re using a Lactic Acid with over 7 %, you really want to avoid sunlight and only use it at night. It has a beautiful peeling process especially when it’s cocktailed.
Side note: An AHA is going to work from the bottom up a BHA is going to work from the top to the bottom. As above, so below – is how I train my estheticians, so it’s a great way to hit the skin cells from multiple angles. I like to call it a “buffer” acid, it’s really not one we use for you to peel, it’s one we use for hydration benefits.
Hyaluronic Acid
This acid hydrates the skin barrier by 100%. I apply it with a moisturizer and I use the Hyaluronic Acid powder along with Neomycin in my chemical peel cocktails. With this method, you get minerals, vitamins and hydration – it feeds your skin.
These are the three popular acids used for chemical peels. Here at Esthetics by P Brown, we base our home care on three steps, polish, cleanse, and hydrate. Exfoliation, then cleanse, then hydrate. And with those 3 steps your exfoliation can be chemical or mechanical.

Are you feeling tired, achy, slothful, just out of it? Come see us, let one of our LMT’s work out your kinks. If you haven’t ever experienced a massage at Esthetics by P Brown, then it’s time for you to schedule one.
What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is a treatment where a trained professional (Licensed Massage Therapist – LMT) manipulates the muscles in your body to helps relieve pain, heal injuries and mainly helps you relax.
Our LMTs help knead out knots, improve circulation, reduce other stress points in the body, and (literally)help the body relax.
What Should I Expect During a Massage Session?
When the session starts, you can get as comfortable as you’d like and we make sure you’re covered by a sheet draping along where needed. Our LMT’s are trained professionals and if you choose to undress, it usually makes it a better, more effective appointment because sometimes undergarments can get in the way of the LMT getting to certain pressure points or making the long strokes in your muscles.
Pressure is often added to help reduce pain in the body. Frequently our LMT’s will lubricate your skin with massage oil/lotion and add massage strokes to warm and work the muscles so they can help release the tension which allows for the LMT to give a deeper tissue massage. Depending on how tight your muscles are, there may be a little discomfort as the LMT works on the muscle, but overall, it should be a relaxing treatment. And if you happen to feel pain, please speak up and inform the LMT.
Following the massage, you’ll want to drink a lot of water to continue to flush toxins. You may want to get a massage more frequently than once a year, if possible, you’ll want to get a massage every 4-6 weeks and it would definitely benefit you to make it a part of your long-term wellness routine. Getting your muscles loosened frequently may help reduce injury.
At Esthetics by P Brown, you have the option of scheduling your massage in as small as 30 minutes or up to 120 minutes. The longer the massage, the longer the LMT has to work out the tension in your body.
